Exploring

Europe, fall 2025, and everywhere since. Places I did not know how to move through yet. A few months of being the person who does not know anything. Wrong language, eating at the wrong hour, no idea which street connects to which. I took more photographs in that stretch than in any other period of my life, and almost none of them are of landmarks. A doorway. A bus stop. How someone stacked crates outside a shop. None of it was remarkable to anyone who lived there. That is the part I have thought about since. A place becomes interesting the moment you do not know how it works, and stops being interesting the moment you do. Most of the time I am the one who already knows how it works. The landscapes belong here for a related reason. Everything else on this site was designed by somebody. Buildings, cars, rooms, brands, yards. Noticing those decisions is most of what I do. Out there, nobody made any. It is the only set where I am not reading someone else's choices, and it makes clear how much of what I usually find beautiful is just taste, arranged well.
